Das zweijährlich veranstaltete Fashion in Film Festival (FFF), das im Mai 2006 Premiere in London hatte, beschäftigt sich mit der Rolle, die Mode im Film spielt.
2005 von Marketa Uhlirova and Christel Tsilibaris und Roger K. Burton begründet und kuratiert, hat es sich zu einem wichtigen Forum der Retrospektive, der akademischen Forschung und künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung entwickelt.

Im Jahre 2008 wird Fashion in Film das Thema „If Looks Could Kill“ haben, eine Auseinandersetzung mit der Verbindung von Mode, Verbrechen und Gewalt im Film.

Das FFF lädt Filmemacher ein, ihre Arbeiten, die dieses Thema im weitesten Sinne zum Gegenstand haben, einzusenden.

Aus dem Pressetext der Ausschreibung:
„We accept submissions for our 2008 edition €˜If Looks Could Kill´, a study of the forceful and compelling link between fashion, crime and violence in cinema.
What roles do fashion, clothing and disguise play in criminal plots? €˜If Looks Could Kill´ probes the sartorial practices at work in identifying and violating a victim, tracking down a suspect, or convicting a murderer. It focuses on secret motifs and desires of thieves, cons, delinquents and murderers, tracing them across genres and film movements including detective, melodrama, gangster film, thriller, horror and film noir.

Fashionable clothes and even the fashion environment itself are commonly utilised in film to glamorise and glorify criminal behaviour. Fashion lends crime an air of chic decadence and can perform as an immoral equivalent to crime´s extreme measures.
Film narrative, in turn, is often inclined to victimise fashion – to make it the very core of violence.
Through documentary and CCTV records of 20th and 21st century urban spaces and subcultures, €˜If Looks Could Kill´ also explores how tribal and gang styles have provoked violent acts.“
